Best way to breathe when lifting weights?

I usually make an audible sound when I breathe out during the eccentric phase – also know as the “negative” portion of the lift or when I lower the weight. It sounds like, “Pffffff.” It helps me control the lowering of the weight. I live in Japan and in my gym the other members look at me strangely if I make the sound. It’s like everyone is doing their best to be quiet but my sound is not at all loud. I have stared to wonder if my technique is off or if this is a cultural thing. Any help would be welcome. Thanks.

breath with your lungs and breathe out co2 works best
