How much should i spend on College?

I am barely going to high school but i was thinking that my parents will pay my tuition for high school and i will pay my own for college. i have a money in the bank that my mom says i’m not allowed to use that money till i’m 18 (by law) or something. What was your regular cost for everything to start with college? (including: Tuition books, supplies, dorm supplies, laptops, and all of the stuff that makes you officially ready for college.) PLZ tell me (I also want to go to the university of Chicago) its known to be one of the best universitys

Most colleges have excellent websites that have information for prospective students, including an estimated cost of attendance. The University of Chicago estimates that an IL resident living on campus will pay about 54,340 to attend school in 2009-10 (plus 2070 if you do not have health insurance). This is not counting a computer or laptop, clothing, and furnishings for your dorm room or any extras. College is a HUGE investment, and one you should only undertake if you are committed to making it work; otherwise, it is a colossal waste of money. The U of Chicago is a very expensive school. If you are barely going to high school, the odds are not very good that you are going to do well in college… you should also consider if you would be admitted. The average student admitted to the U of Chicago this year scored between 28-33 on their ACT exam, participated in a variety of extracurricular activities and had other qualities that made them stand out. Only about 25% of the people who applied were admitted.
