Bible Book Of Job Text

bible book of job text
When did Job actually live?

I have heard many opinions from Christians that The Book of Job proves that there were Dinosaurs in the Bible and that these were destroyed in the flood. But is their any proof that Job even lived before the flood? There is even disagreement between the Jews on this subject.
In the Talmud (Baba Batra 15a-b) there are different opinions when Job lived:
1. During the lifetime of Jacob.
2. During Moses’ lifetime (in fact, according to this opinion Moses authored the Book of Job).
3. During the Era of the Judges.
4. During the reign of Solomon.
5. During the reign of Nebuchadnezzar.
6. During the reign of Ahasuerus and Esther.
7. At the onset of the Second Temple period.
8. There is even an opinion that Job never physically lived at all; rather the Book of Job is a parable which is meant to teach us about suffering and its meaning.
But even all of these dates are well after Noah. Can some one please show me a Christian text that gives and opinion of when Job lived?

The internal evidence seems to indicate that Job was a contemporary of Abraham or possibly (as you suggest), Jacob. In the reference to the Sabeans (Job 1:15), we find a clue that it could not be earlier than the time when Sheba the son of Joktan (brother of Peleg, from whom Abraham descended) had become a strong tribe (the Sabeans), The reference to the Chaldeans (Job 1:17) likewise indicates a time near that of Abraham/Jacob.
Job 1:1 calls Job a resident of the land of Uz, possibly indicating that he was a close descendant of Shem’s grandson Uz.
Job’s life-span (140 years) seems to indicate that he lived at about the time of the 8th to 12th generation after the flood (Abraham was the 9th generation from the flood).

As to the author of the book, great diversity of opinion exists. From internal evidence, such as the similarity of sentiment and language to those in the Psalms and Proverbs, the prevalence of the idea of “wisdom,” and the style and character of the composition, it is supposed by some to have been written in the time of David and Solomon. Others argue that it was written by Job himself, or by Elihu, or Isaiah, or perhaps more probably by Moses, who was “learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and mighty in words and deeds” (Acts 7:22). He had opportunities in Midian for obtaining the knowledge of the facts related.

The human author remains altogether uncertain.

The book of Job was apparently well known in the days of Ezekiel, B.C. 600 (Ezek. 14:14). It formed a part of the sacred Scriptures used by our Lord and his apostles, and is referred to as a part of the inspired Word (Heb. 12:5; 1 Cor. 3:19).

I personally lean more to an earlier authorship, Moses or earlier, but again, no empirical evidence exists one way or another.

As to the dinosaur issue, I see no reason why Noah would not have brought them on the ark along with the other other animals, and that many of them survived long after the time of Job.
